18th March, 2020
Dear community, as of the 18th March, 2020, all our art classes, clubs and scheduled events have been suspended until the end of May, but with ongoing review. Our primary concern is the safety of our community and we wanted to ensure that we do not expose you to unnecessary risk. As a small organisation, we are ourselves uncertain as to the impact these challenging and unprecedented circumstances will have on our ability to continue providing services, but we will do our very best to keep going with regular remote activity. We think it is very important to stay connected and keep some semblance of normality. Please bear with us as we work to set things up for you.
If you are one of our existing community members, we shall be communicating with you via email and facebook.
Self isolating could be lonely. This is where digital technology can come into its own in helping us all stay connected. It’s also a good time to start a new hobby or learn something new. Getting creative is a great way to reduce anxiety, and you’ll be amazed at how quickly the time passes when you get absorbed in your work!
You can find suggestions of creative activities on our facebook page.
WHICH ART CLASS?
Our Solihull based art classes are suitable for anyone interested in developing their art skills. All you need is an open mind and the desire to make art. We can help with all the rest! Our art classes are broadly broken up into art clubs suitable for children, youth arts for teens and art for adults.
Art clubs are our art classes for children aged 5-14 (8-14 at The Core) and offer the opportunity to go for an Arts Award. Fun, experimental learning.
These art classes are for teenagers and are aimed at helping young artists develop a stronger sense of identity. You don’t have to be doing art at school to join or do Arts Award, but Youth Arts supports GCSE and A Level Art.
Our art classes for adults cater for “I can’t draw to save my life ” right the way through to artists looking for a tribe. We tailor classes to suit individuals’ needs–everybody is welcome regardless of ability.
Family Art Workshops take place in school holidays and allow you to come and make art alongside your children. All children need to be accompanied and can attend from age 3 upwards.
If you’re into art and aged between 11-16, then get creative at ArtLab during school holidays. ArtLab is a unique platform where curiousity and inventiveness are nurtured through creative experiments.
Community arts events are scheduled throughout the year. These are usually low cost or free and would suit those who can’t commit to regular art sessions. Check back regularly to see what’s coming up.
