Saskia Rots
Drawing from my experiences as an imaginative and sometimes out-of-place child, I am passionate about providing young people with an opportunity for expression in an engaged, enriching environment.
A desire to synthesise my artistic interests with progressive social action drove me to pursue a social sciences degree, focusing on gender studies and social inequalities around the world. My studies helped reveal the multifaceted merits of creative thinking and the powerful role art plays in many subjects.
This understanding coupled with an awareness of mainstream art’s privileged dominant narratives and the undervaluing of art in education have founded my desire to make art accessible as a means of individual expression and community enrichment.
Equality, compassion, and cultural diversity inspire my approach to Art at the Heart and I am excited to support young people in identifying their interests and pulling together varied experiences and ideas to create meaningful projects and develop applicable skills.
