Nirmala has developed a unique combination of transferrable skills obtained in a number of different sectors, including the pharmaceutical industry, the voluntary sector and education. With 17 years experience in neuroscience research, developing new drugs targeting neurological conditions including pain and anxiety, Nirmala has a particular interest in using drug-free means–the creative arts–for minimising stress and managing chronic pain in people living with long term conditions. She is currently a voluntary local group coordinator for national charity, National Rheumatoid Arthritis Society, liaising with medical and science professionals to organise speakers to support the local group.
